Resource Tracking Systems
Also referred to as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)--a resource tracking system receives customer orders and creates a manufacturing plan based on the current status of the plant floor. The resource tracking system communicates to the process control system in real-time to optimize use of resources and to pass parameters back to the process control equipment. In cases where process control equipment is not in use, bar code systems may be used to provide
data input. With a resource tracking system, you can:
- Track Work-In-Process and Shop Floor Inventory in Real-Time
- Define and Enforce Production Procedures
- Capture a Comprehensive Product History and Material Genealogy
- Display Work Instructions for Production or Equipment Maintenance
- Monitor and Record Machine Usage and Downtime
Resource tracking systems provides real-time WIP (Work in Progress) tracking, Inventory tracking, Lot tracking and product genealogy. For a more complete description of resource tracking systems, see
